For Google Merchant: Use JPEG with the .jpeg extension and a quality of 80-85% for e-commerce-ready images.
For photos: Use JPEG with a quality of 70-85% for a good balance between quality and file size.

For images with transparency: If you need to keep transparency, WebP is the better choice over JPEG.
For maximum compatibility: JPEG is supported practically everywhere, which makes it the safest choice.

Which formats can I convert?

It takes PNG and AVIF as input and outputs JPEG or WebP. To open AVIF files you need an up-to-date browser (Chrome 85+, Firefox 93+ or Safari 16.4+): if yours doesn't support them, the tool tells you. Files in other formats are ignored.

How many images can I convert at once?

Up to 20 at a time. Load them together, choose format and quality and hit Convert Now. With Download All Files you get them one after another, each with its original name and the new extension. To convert more, just repeat the process.

What quality should I set?

The slider starts at 85%. For photos, 70 to 85% works well; for Google Merchant images, a JPEG between 80 and 85%: JPEGs are saved with the .jpeg extension. When the conversion is done you see the average reduction and the space saved.

Are the images uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser: the images never leave your device or pass through any server, and when you close the page no trace of them remains. The converter is free and requires no sign-up.
